On Tuesday, December 15 – in the height of the holiday season and just a few days before Christmas – Representative Luis Gutierrez will introduce the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security and Prosperity Act of 2009″ (CIR A.S.A.P.) in the House of Representatives. At long last, all of our work – with your support – has helped generate a bill that aims to fix our broken immigration system. The legislation intends to protect workers, keep families together, and promote our national security while ensuring that we stay true to our values as a nation of immigrants.
To celebrate this achievement, OneAmerica is inviting Santa Claus and his elves to join us for a rally in Victor Steinbrueck Park in the heart of Pike Place Market.
When: 10 – 11:30 am, Tuesday, December 15, 2009
Where: Victor Steinbrueck Park, 2001 Western Avenue on the north end of Pike Place Market
Who: Community members, little elves, Santa and YOU!
Contact: Click here for more info or call 206-723-2203
Come tell Santa why immigration reform is important to you and what you want this bill to do for you, your family, and your community. Children and adults alike can transform these requests into ornaments and hang them on our Christmas tree or get a photo with Santa. Then we can send these photos to your legislators for you and ask them to co-sponsor the bill. We’ll have holiday music, sleigh bells, and hot chocolate!
The rally is a celebration not only for CIR A.S.A.P., but a celebration of the spirit of generosity, kindness, hope, and peace that runs through our community and is reflected in all religious faiths. Leaders from different faiths will be at the rally to remind us of this spirit during a hectic holiday season.
